Macedonian Tradition On Duhoven people give food

In Macedonian folk belief this religious  holiday is most connected with the souls of the dead

On  Duhovden people  give food  "for the soul and memory of their loved ones who have passed". This is done in order to satisfy the dead, because they need to be well fed before they are closed.

Because of this, a person must not eat anything until they give food "Za dusha "  .The people believe that on this day the souls of the dead have  a communion " . To celebrate this the relatives of the people who passed are giving out food in their honor

Holy Pentecost - Pentecost (Holy Trinity) - fifty days after Easter
Feast of the Holy Spirit and the founding of the Christian church
The Feast of Pentecost belongs among the great Lord's feasts.
Among the people is known by many names,
such as Duoden, Eternal, Holy Spirit, Holy Three, Pedestal, etc.
It is celebrated ten days after Spasovden
(Ascension of Christ), and fifty days after Easter (Resurrection of Christ).
It is also called Pentecost not just because
it is celebrated fifty days after Easter,
but also because the event occurred exactly on the Jewish holiday
The Pentecost which the Jews observed in memory
of the day the Lord gave Moses the laws in Mount Sinai
