Macedonian Zdravko Dejanovic climbs Himalayas Annapurna I

Macedonia's Zdravko Dejanovic has climbed Himalayas top Annapurna I (8091m), considered one of the deadliest for mountaineers, says the Macedonian Federation of Mountain Sports.

Skopje, 27 March 2015 (MIA) - Macedonia's Zdravko Dejanovic has climbed Himalayas top Annapurna I (8091m), considered one of the deadliest for mountaineers, says the Macedonian Federation of Mountain Sports.

Dejanovic climbed the top on March 24, where less than 200 people have set foot. Two climbers from Nepal and Finland lost their lives during the descent.

"The cruelty of nature and the agony of the climb, and especially during the descent, is made even harder by the enormous avalanches. The extremely low temperatures of about -50C, accompanied by icy wind, result in frostbites on the face and hands.", says the federation.

Dejanovic reached the base camp on Friday, wherefrom he will be transferred by helicopter to a hospital in Katmandu, Nepal.

"This is an enormous success for Macedonian mountaineering. Zdravko Dejanovic is the only Macedonian to climb three eight-thousanders (Everest, K2 and Annapurna I)", says the federation. ik/13:41
