Kumanovo group planned prison attack in Kosovo: paper

The leaders of the armed group of Kosovo Albanians, which clashed with the Macedonian police in Kumanovo on May 9-10, also had plans to attack a prison in the vicinity of Podujevo in Kosovo and free several dangerous criminals held there, Pristina-based Koha Ditore daily reports.

According to documents and information of the Kosovan intelligence and police, Beg Rizaj and Mirsad Ndrecaj together with a 44-strong group have planned to conduct an attack on a high security prison in the vicinity of Podujevo in a bid to release two prisoners, who have been sentenced for committing serious crimes, including murders, Koha Ditore has reported.

The paper writes that the group has been monitored by Kosovan intelligence since 2013. and a greater number of details about their plan have been obtained following the meeting members of the group had with suspected Islamic radicals in Kosovo. Koha Ditore also reports that several members of the group were known to Macedonian intelligence.ba/15:03
