Zaev invites 3 Albanian parties to form a new government

Skopje, 17 May 2017 (MIA) - SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said that he will discuss with the DUI, BESA and Alliance of Albanians parties to try to form a new Government. Zaev made the statement after he received the mandate by President Gjorge Ivanov.

"I will work, like I did before, with all my heart, to put our differences, hatred and destructive policies behind us. I pledge to work with all my strength to have the next Government as a Government of all citizens", Zaev told the press.

These three parties gave Zaev the signatures of their members in Parliament to ask for the mandate, on the condition that SDSM supports a law making the Albanian language official across the entire country. BESA has indicated that it would not join a Government that includes DUI, which it accuses of corruption. Put together, SDSM and the three parties would have 67 votes in the 120 seat Parliament, and without BESA, the coalition would have 62.cc/13:20
